By Roger Mitchell, Stevensville
Since March 22nd, 2020, I have written and posted 24 articles to my blog, Poor Rogers Almanac (https://poorrogersalmanac/) concerning the viral “threat” known as Covid-19, the dread Corona Monster. In addition, I have published numerous letters to the editor in local papers making it clear where I stand on this and have commented countless times in other venues. My opinion is known and can be seen.
Today, I am raising the ante. It is time to become more involved. I am working to set up and establish an organization of like-minded people to push back against the lockdown and face mask mandates which have been imposed on society to its detriment. Not only have we been told to stay home, but to close our businesses, to keep an anti-social distance from each other, to cover our faces with a porous scrap of cloth or paper, to act as if we are guilty. We have been told that our work is not “essential,” that we cannot practice our religion freely without interference, that we cannot meet socially with friends or family, that we cannot attend weddings in joy or funerals in grief. And more, all in the name of preventing the spread of what can be proven by data to be nothing more serious than a moderately severe seasonal illness.
I’m tired of it. I’m doing something about it. I want your help. Together, we can make a difference.
Breathe free. Join me.

Roger, your guess as to who, including me, might be up for “the challenge” is moot as you present no challenge. To climb into an echo chamber with the din of your repetitive clamor would be akin to locking one’s self in a garage with a 3 year old with a drum set,
Your self indulgence is impressive with unlimited capacity to repeat yourself.
Here’s a simple one. It calls for nothing more than common decency. If an establishment, private or public, chooses to require a mask for entry it is their right. They assume, should you choose not to wear a mask, that you will take your “business” elsewhere. Do it and do it quietly. It ain’t about you (shockingly)!
You remind us that blogs have become like a certain anatomical feature for the elimination of waste………..everyone has one.
Roger Mitchell says
Well, John, if I present no challenge, then why are you wasting so much time challenging me? Why don’t you simply ignore anything I say? Wouldn’t that be easier?
As far as the mask thing goes, if a business requires one before I can shop there, then I am free to choose to take my money and go elsewhere. However, common decency, as you assert would mean that others do not try to force me to wear one against my will, as you would like to do.
If everyone has a blog, then what is the address for yours? Does yours allow readers to comment and voice their opinion, even if it doesn’t agree with your viewpoint? Mine does. As far as blogs go, they are only a medium for allowing the expression of opinion. My opinion matters. So does yours. We do not have to agree. This is what “freedom of speech” is all about. Unfortunately, too many people want to shut down the opinions and speech of those who disagree with them.
Where do you stand on that?
John Grant says
Here’s some help Roger; in your pursuit of YOUR “civil liberties” consider those of others who have chosen to inform themselves as to the risks of not wearing masks. Their choices are supported by wide sources of information including data. That very same information is available to you. Data does not support your present view. Of course you have every right to assume whatever risks seem acceptable to you. You do NOT have any such right to impose them on others.
Don’t wear a mask if you choose but don’t be a threat to others in so choosing.
Mike Mercer says
We now have governors pushing us to spy on our neighbors and report to the state those who transgress the various orders, mandates and edicts they hand down. Are these the same sources you get your mask information from, just wondering, as you may want to expand your information network….just a suggestion.
Bill LaCroix says
That’s BS. You know that, right?
Mike Mercer says
Ask the folks in Oregon if it’s BS.
Mike Miller says
Bill, you’re wrong. It’s a fact, as Mike mercer pointed out.
Feel free to search “oregon report neighbors”. While you’re at it, search “nyc report covid violations”.
Sadly, we don’t have to look past our own fence to see government urging us to tattle on each other. Search “gov bullock report covid violations”.
All this lunacy for a 99+/-% survival rate?
Mike Miller says
“The risks of not wearing masks”… facts are almost no mask (not even the N95 mask) will stop the .1 micron sized virus, and past that, it’s about a 99% survival rate. In your words, there are wide sources of information backing up those facts. Facts also dictate many covid stats are flawed or outright manipulative lies. So, you’re a LIAR when you say “data doesn’t support your present view”.
No one forcing anyone to not wear a mask, If you want to wear a mask that doesn’t work against a 99% survival rate virus, go ahead. But the shoe is certainly on the other foot because many people, including you and governor bullock it seems, are indeed threatening others to do so and punish them if they don’t.

Oh, John, one more thing,
Since I sent the above Letter to the Editor, I have published many more articles to my blog, the vast majority concerning the Corona Monster. I invite you to visit it and respond specifically to any one of those posts. Refute my arguments if you are able to. I welcome the opportunity to discuss this with you. However, be warned. If you do, I will respond. If you don’t, I will ignore you.
My guess is that you won’t. My guess is that you haven’t got what it takes to rise to the challenge.
Mike Mercer says
Forget I said anything, I mean, wow, a blog, you really must really like the koolaide so I will politely leave you to it.
Roger Mitchell says
Mike,
You have replied to a comment I made to John Grant, who replied to my original Letter to the Editor as written above and in which is shown my blog address (https://poorrogersalmanac.com). This blog is what I was referring to in the comment I made above, also to John Grant, and in which I encouraged him to visit it and debate the arguments posted thereon. If he wanted to, that is.
I have no idea what you meant by posting your snarky, sarcastic comment. Perhaps you were confused. Please enlighten us.
Mike Mercer says
Second Time I have been called “Snarky” on this site. To enlighten you further, you appear to have all your ducks in a row but your pond is a bit shallow…yeah I know Snarky.
