Who is that behind the mask,
Someone I know, or should I ask?
I can’t see the smile
I once knew so well,
Is she happy or sad?
I really can’t tell.
Who is that who covers their face?
A health care worker
Who stays in their place
Doing their job with patience and grace.
Who is that who walks down the street
Hiding their face from all that they meet?
Where is the smile we once knew,
The handshake, the hug
And the “How do you do?”
What is that behind the mask?
Is it fear of getting Covid 19,
Or fear that without it you will be seen?
Is it a style you now think is here,
And you consider it part of your gear?
Is there anger because deep inside,
For the sake of a few, you are forced to abide?
Is there confusion? Can’t blame you there.
We’ve been lied to so much the truth is now rare.
If you wear a mask are you asking “why?”
Is there a law to make you comply?
Wearing a mask is unhealthy you know,
You need the oxygen and fresh air flow.
Are you tired of asking “What did you say?”
And being told to remain six feet away.
What is the purpose, what is the goal?
It’s not about the virus, it’s all about control.
Control what you do, control where you go,
Control of your worship, control of your soul.
You work in a store and are forced to comply
“If you don’t wear a mask” it is “goodbye!”
It’s like being in a prison. So what can be done?
Make your voice heard, ‘til the battle is won.
Let’s get back to laughter, and freedom and fun,
Remove those masks, get out in the sun,
Release that anger and the fear,
And breathe in the fresh Montana air.
Let’s pray for freedom, that this will not last.
Let’s pray it’s soon over and we won’t have to ask
Just what is the motive
BEHIND THE MASK?
Kyle says
It’s real simple: the mask isn’t about a lack of “freedom” any more than being expected to wear pants to church or a shoes in a restaurant. If we all just acted a tiny bit decent by wearing a mask, we’d make things better. Instead, by thinking this is some moment to “take a stand” you make it worse, which will in turn make this last longer, and in turn become more damaging to our economy and in turn hinder our ability as Americans to “be free” in the exact ways you mention. If you wear a mask, you actually make it so we get back to that way of life FASTER.

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!! Thank you for a bright ray of sunshine on an otherwise very cloudy day.
