By Joan Prather, President, Stevensville Civic Club
On Thursday, May 21, 2020 at 6 p.m. at the Lewis and Clark Park, there will be a meeting of the Civic Club regarding he 2020 Creamery Picnic. We are holding this meeting in the park so people can appropriately social distance themselves comfortably and we will be able to accommodate all citizens attending. You may want to bring a chair and/or an umbrella.
In light of the development of the COVID-19 pandemic, many events are being cancelled, rescheduled, or still in question as to if they will be happening. The Creamery Picnic is an annual event that has happened for 107 years. It has been cancelled one time in that history due to war. We are concerned for the safety of the public and to follow the requirements of the COVID-19 recommendations. However, we cannot control the social distancing or guarantee that there will not be someone near and dear to you that might get exposed to an unknown carrier.
These are troubling times and with the predicted resurgence of the virus cases, are we wise to proceed with plans and the Creamery Picnic event? The Board of the Civic Club wants to hear your thoughts regarding this situation. Therefore, we are hoping that the town folks, members of Civic club, businesses, police security, fire department, members of the Creamery Picnic Committee and all involved entities to meet at the Lewis and Clark Park. Depending on your opinion, what are you willing to do to make that happen.
We thank you in advance for taking time to think this through, aiding in the most appropriate decisions and coming to the meeting.
