Montanans now eligible for maximum $646 in benefits
U.S. Senators Jon Tester and Steve Daines have announced that they have secured approval of Montana’s emergency allotment waiver for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Montana SNAP recipients will now be eligible for maximum benefits during the coronavirus pandemic.
“No Montanan should have to choose between paying medical bills and putting food on the table during a public health crisis, plain and simple,”said Tester. “This waiver is a no-brainer, and I’ll keep fighting to make sure no Montanan goes hungry as we combat the coronavirus outbreak.”
This increase was authorized by the “Phase II” coronavirus legislation that was signed into law on March 18th. The average allotment of SNAP benefits is $465 for a family of four. Now that this waiver has been approved, Montana families will be eligible for the maximum allotment of $646.
“This is about delivering relief for families struggling during the Coronavirus pandemic and I will continue working to ensure that Montanans have access to the resources they need during this crisis,” Daines said.
Montana being eligible for SNAP Emergency Allotments means that all SNAP recipients in Montana would now be eligible to receive the maximum SNAP benefits by household size per month. To see the maximum SNAP benefits by household size per month, click HERE.

I received my maximum amount and am very grateful.. You don’t know how much this has helped from $16 a month.. The notice I received today said it was just for April. I thought I read somewhere that it would be April and May. The extra month would really help since on a limited income you don’t buy much and $16 doesn’t go far, it would help me stock up for a bit and not need to use the food banks to survive. Don’t get me wrong, I am great full for whatever I receive. Thank you.

I’m not positive, but I received my benefits a day late this month. Then I got a text a day later saying more money is being deposited on the 12th of this month. Which equals to my max amount. Hope that helps!

What about families that were on snap and they dropped our benifits 2 months ago and say we no longer qualify ??? And now I’m going without completely. They need to open up the door to all these people and families that need the help and are being turned down or denied completely and help us out as well. Not just raise they amount that families who ALREADY get snap benefits to MORE. That’s not right
Dayna says
Reapply online, I’m sure you’ll get them again. They are taking applications right now. Others that need help are not your enemy.

Now does this apply to senior citizens that are on social security? Like I only get 16 dollars a month in food stamps. Will my food stamps go up to the maximum amount too? Because of the cost of food being so high that woukd be great.
Moonie says
Following. Was wondering the same thing
Bruce D Jenner says
I am also on Social Security and yesterday I received another deposit of $178. Granted I am a household of one, so if you have more people in your household, your amount may differ.
