Hamilton – Margaret Deans Rhodes, 95, of Hamilton passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home in Sapphire Lutheran Homes. She was born November 29, 1924 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Charles and Hettie Brinkley Deans. She grew up on a small farm in Virginia, and through every step of her life, she loved gardening. Everything she touched just seemed to grow.
She married Bryan Talley Rhodes on July 6, 1946 in Norfolk, Virginia and worked with the Chesapeake & Potomac Telephone Company for over 12 years.
When Margaret and Talley visited their daughter in Montana, they fell in love with the mountains, the scenery, and the people. They relocated to Hamilton in 1998.
In her time in the Bitterroot, Margaret loved to exercise and encouraged and taught others of its benefits. She also volunteered at the care center each week.
Margaret was a member of the United Methodist American Baptist Church in Hamilton.
She is survived by her daughter, Bettie Rhodes and husband Ronald Patrone of Hamilton; daughter, Jan Rhodes-DePauw and husband Dan DePauw of Stevensville; granddaughter, Kori DePauw and husband Ben Elliott of Vancouver, Canada; and many nieces and nephews. Margaret joins the love of her life, Bryan, and has donated her body to WWAMI in Bozeman, Montana. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Marcus Daly Hospice.
