Rona (Veronica) Engelter was known as Miss E in Hamilton schools.
Though she retired over 10 years ago from teaching, she was still a presence in the schools. She looked forward to spending time there as a substitute teacher. The Children were first in her mind. She worked to welcome the children, praise them, coach them, hug them, read to them, reward them, all to help prepare them for life.
Miss E died suddenly in January of 2019 leaving so many reminders of her time with The Children. There were projects and books she had ready to take when a substitute call would come, and the mementos from her students, their parents, and her many friends.
We (her family) have set up an account for The Children in Rona’s name, with the Friends of the Hamilton Schools Foundation for Education, hoping that because she lived, her influence could continue.
Contributions in memory of Miss E can be sent to the Friends of the Hamilton Schools Foundation, hsd3.org at PO Box 1514. Hamilton MT 59840 – attention Jill Hansen. Funds will be used to enrich the lives of The Children.
Thank you to the people of Hamilton for all the opportunities you afforded Miss E, as she loved what she did, and she loved the Bitterroot Valley and its people.
