Cash Trexler has been throwing a rope since he could walk and riding just as long. That persistence and practice paid off this past week while he was at the National Junior High Rodeo Finals. The soon-to-be Corvallis 8th grader finished in second place in the nation in the breakaway roping. His brother, Cole, won the same championship three years ago. Trexler roped three calves in 9.19 seconds to win second. He was consistent with times of 3.31, 2.78, and 3.13. He is the son of Reed and Kari Trexler.

Stevensville’s Logan Gerhard also competed at Huron. The seventh grader, who is the son of Michelle and Nick Gerhard, competed in the team roping and the light rifle marksmanship.
