The legislature is currently considering SB 24, which would raise the voluntary motor vehicle registration fee from $6 to $9. This small fee increase will provide funding for many worthwhile projects in our state. It increases funds for our state park system, which desperately needs more money to keep up with deferred maintenance and rising use. It also provides money for our state fishing access sites, which see increasing use all over the state. And it provides funds for the state recreational trails program.
This small fee increase is entirely voluntary, but will provide significant benefit to Montanans. Please call your legislators and urge them to vote for SB 24.
