Congress is starting up again. I think all of us (Democrat, Republican and whatever) hope that they may manage to do something constructive. So far, their performance reminds me of the famous circular firing squad. Perhaps they need to try making a dry run. Yes, a dry run! After all famous actors, generals, teachers, doctors and all other professions do dry runs, maneuvers or simulations. If Congress met and repealed Murphy’s Law, the lessons learned may enable them to address some of the many problems facing our nation. They might enjoy actually working together.
Let’s be sure everyone reading this missive understands Murphy’s Law. It is very simple: “Anything that can fail or break will do so and at the worst possible time.” This law applies to everyone. Surely any veteran reading this will recognize the need to repeal this universal curse. Surely Congress can agree upon this urgent issue facing every citizen. What they might learn from this simple dry run just may be the saving of our republic.
I was going to end by suggesting everyone contact their congressman with this idea. But, after due consideration of congressional history, I hesitate because I’ve come now to suspect that they might well have written it.
