My husband went to the Performing Arts Series last night to hear Elvin Bishop and Charlie Musselwhite on guitar and harmonica and enjoyed it, but he’s an old white guy and a professional musician as well, and he commented that they played all blues, which has its origins in Black culture of the past century and more.
If you look into it, you find that that is true of virtually all jazz, pop, and rock music; our lives are daily and hourly enriched by the diversity of our culture.
And whether or not Martin Luther King, Jr. was a saint or not is completely irrelevant to his importance in the history of our country and his clear conviction that human beings should always, always be treated as human beings.
