Re: Astonishing report in the Bitterroot Star regarding Stevensville council members Bob Michalson and Stacie Barker.
Among other things reported, they would like to abolish the Park Board and all Town social media websites as well as cease video recording and broadcasting of the Town Council meetings. That is a good way to keep information secret as opposed to the transparency most folks would like to see.
They also think it would be wise to require the Chief of Police, Chief of Fire, the Town Clerk, all Deputy Clerks and the Finance Officer/Treasurer be residents of the town [of approximately 2000 people]. Seriously, where and how do they think this could happen with a severe shortage of affordable housing within the city limits? If the city limits were expanded this might be logical. Expanding the city limits would also increase the number of people who might be interested in serving on the council and help the tax base of the city itself.
I am disappointed I cannot vote for elected officials as I live just outside of the jurisdiction.
