The Ravalli County Planning Department is inviting public comment on a floodplain permit application to cover the maintenance and repair of a bank stabilization project that was permitted in 1996 within the floodplain of the Bitterroot River. The existing rip rap project is failing mostly along the top edge of 2 separate sections. The project will add to and repair the stone along the lower portions of the bank, and stabilize the top portions using a combination of rip rap, coconut matting, sod, and willow branches. The applicant is David Wiediger. The project is located on the east bank of the river approximately 2.1 miles north of Bell Crossing, in the SE¼ Section 4, Township 8 North, Range 20 West, Ravalli County, on Parcel 329200.
