The Stevensville girls under new coach Nick Giese won their first match on Saturday. Libby, who was glad to be out of the smoke, played a tough aggressive game but the Yellowjackets were just as tough and a little quicker.
After a scoreless first half, Stevensville turned up the heat. Allie Emery took the ball from the right side of the pitch across the field and shot it into the net for the first goal of the game. The game plan worked again 11 minutes later when she again found the net. Emery also scored the final goal with two minutes remaining to make the final score, 3-0, Stevensville.
The Stevensville boys slammed Libby, 10-0. Dylan Roberts, Henri Fielder, and Ethan Post each scored one goal. Liam Heidtman and Garrett Schreiber scored twice and Chance Liston scored three times.
The Corvallis girls fell to Belgrade, 7-0. Corvallis had only two shots on goal. The Blue Devil keeper, Mikayla King, had seven saves.
The Corvallis boys lost to Belgrade, 5-1. Corvallis scored first at 38 minutes when Matt Cooper got the ball and knocked it in. But that was the last score for the Blue Devils. They took 10 shots on goal while Belgrade had 33. Corvallis’ Hunter Linnewah and Nick Spinetta combined for 13 saves.
