I agree compromise is not the solution.
I disagree that returning to a “Constitutional Republic” is the solution. America’s Constitution and Republic are exactly what led us to this place in time. Until we face and admit this reality, we will never be able to move forward in a healthy and strong way.
The “fundamental basics upon which our country was founded” were violated by the Constitution. The fundamentals that can lead us to a solution were given in the Declaration of Independence. Such ideas as…
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.–That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” These were all disregarded in the Constitution. For example, as soon as you stop asking my permission, you no longer have the “consent of the governed” and therefore no “just powers” exist today to govern anyone! We do have a problem.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to “governments,” only a willingness to value and respect people, liberty and a new way of relating to one another that does not violate anyone or anything. There is historical evidence, this has existed. A good starting place is a book called, “The Voluntary City.”
