I want to congratulate Keith Kubista on his guest comment in the Bitterroot Star published 8/29/2018.
This exceptional letter confirms “brevity is the sign of intellect.” Much was exposed in this brief letter to bring attention to the good folks in the Bitterroot how these “community groups” are funded. Those of us involved in the public hearing process have seen these groups operate like a well-oiled corporation. In fact, that is exactly what they are. Couple the deep pockets of obscure major overseas and national groups with the time available to many trust-fund babies, and you have the ideal recipe for “local activists” to push their agenda of obstruction. (read control).
I pray that the elected officials of Ravalli County are fully informed of the power of their positions. In this unique Democratic Republic, all power to govern is derived from the people. Therefore, the government positions closest to the people are the most powerful. Example: The Lolo National Forest exists within Ravalli County, not the other way around.
I fully expect the eyes of the anti-American, anti-resources groups nationwide to focus on Ravalli County now that the Commissioners have shown their backbone. To quote a famous rock band, “It riles them to believe. That you perceive. The web they weave. And keep on thinking free.”
