I read in the opinions that a woman thinks poison is spreading in our public discourse. She believes she was accosted by strangers in a hostile manner because of progressive bumper stickers she had on her car.
First let me say to this woman, your bumper stickers were your mouth piece proclaiming your beliefs. These individuals who spoke to you were also expressing their opposite belief, which you seem to think was hostile because they didn’t believe what you believed. If you put bumper stickers on your car, expect someone else to either agree or not with you.
You seem to think that no one should in any manner have an opposite opinion than yours. Let me remind you that your progressives, aka communistic socialists, have been accosting and degrading those who believe in Trump and Making America Great again in a most verbally assaultive abrasive manner since he took office. Sarah Huckabee Sanders is a fine example of this, she only wanted dinner and the progressive owner of the restaurant screamed and shouted in an insultive and hostile manner. Then they followed her out of the restaurant continuing the insults. I consider this abandonment of civility, as you put it.
You seem to not believe in free speech, you think you are the only one who has a right to it. You don’t! As far as the children hearing their parents, good for the parents, the children are seeing that they are sticking up for, what they believe and have the courage to stand up and be counted. You want to complain about parents, look at what progressive parents expose their children to. Disgusting pink hats, swear words on signs and much more.
What is tragic is you! You believe you are the only one who has a right to your opinion and don’t want to hear others who want to express their feelings.
You wrote that in your childhood no person approached an elderly woman with intent to intimidate. First, back then old ladies didn’t have political stickers on their cars. Second, you progressives have been intimidating, calling us Trump supporters names and being obnoxious so what do you expect in return? If you are nasty, you will get nasty back.
I suggest if you want civil discourse it starts with you progressives. After all, they started this poison public discourse.

The author of this ‘response’ letter reinforces the need for the original letter, which was a call for a return to civility in public discourse.
