Isn’t that a little like choosing to buy a new gun instead of feeding the kids?
Isn’t it like what poor people are accused of all the time? Buying potato chips and steak instead of dried beans and rice?
And a “spectacular” military parade?
Less spectacular: hungry children, homeless veterans, homeless anyone, having to choose between food and cancer treatment, having to choose between heat and food, electricity in Puerto Rico, jobs that pay a living wage, student loans, …
The national debt … yes, that’s increasingly spectacular.
Have we as a nation come so low that we have to try to make ourselves feel better by splurging on junk?
