Renowned environmental activist Stewart “Brandy” Brandborg, 93, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday evening, April 14, 2018.
His daughter Betsy said the end came quickly and painlessly.
Just last month Brandborg was honored at an event in Hamilton that drew hundreds of people. He is perhaps best known for his seminal work in getting the Wilderness Act passed by Congress in 1964.
Locally, he was known for his work as a founding member of Friends of the Bittterroot as well as Bitterrooters for Planning.
An open house will be held on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22 from 2 to 6 p.m. at 647 Foley Lane in Hamilton.
