The Stevensville School District will be hosting a presentation by Proactive Coaching on Monday, March 26. Proactive Coaching is a nationally known organization that works with schools to help intentionally create character-based team and organization cultures, provide a blueprint for team leadership, develop confident, tough-minded, fearless competitors, and train coaches and advisors for excellence and significance. The program will include assemblies for Stevensville students and a session for Stevensville school parents, teachers, advisors, coaches, and community youth sport coaches.
The speaker for the event is Mike Morgan. Mike is a well-known music educator, successful football coach, and professional speaker throughout the Northwest. His concert bands have numerous Superior ratings in music festivals and his jazz bands have received 26 Top Three finishes in contests throughout the Northwest. Mike has coached his football team to one state championship in 2001 and multiple top four finishes at the state level. He has coached in three All State games and one Shriner All Star Game. In addition to his high school coaching, Mike has also coached at the collegiate level for athletics.
He was honored as Washington State District 7’s Athletic Director of the Year for 2006-2007 and the Bi-County Football Coach of the Year in 2009.
Mike will be emphasizing the importance of student involvement in all aspects of school academic and activities programs. His background in music education gives him the unique ability to bridge the perceived divide between academics, co-curricular programs and athletics.
During the adult sessions, Mike will be relating the importance of parents fulfilling a supporting role in both academic and extra-curricular activities. During the coaching sessions, Mike will be working with coaches to understand the importance of team leadership, treating youth with dignity and respect while striving for excellence and significance.
The District encourages all parents of Stevensville School District students to attend the parent session from 5 to 6 p.m. and free spaghetti dinner at 6 p.m. to share this experience with the school and area coaches.
