An alarming new study was recently published concerning pregnant women who had measurable levels of glyphosate/Roundup in their urine. More than 90% of pregnant women in the study had detectable glyphosate levels, which alone should be troubling. The authors state, “Although our study cohort was small and regional and had limited racial/ethnic diversity, it provides direct evidence of maternal glyphosate exposure and a significant correlation with shortened pregnancy.” Highest levels were found in women who lived in rural areas and those who consumed more than 24 oz. of caffeinated beverages per day. The test subjects’ drinking water sources had no detectible glyphosate levels. The authors suggest further investigations be done in more geographically and racially diverse areas. Their findings are definitely concerning for pregnant mothers and their newborns.
It was observed from spring 1995 and since, that many newborn grazing animals with birth defects appear to be premature. Anyone who could have prevented the newborns from being maimed and killed believed the 1997 MDFWP wildlife laboratory personnel. They called anyone “inexperienced and untrained” who reported unusual health issues on wildlife, including MDFWP biologists and independent biologists and veterinarians. Consequently, nothing was done to save newborns, not even human babies.
