The Jug Beck wrestling tournament in Missoula is one of the top tournaments in the Central Northwest. Teams from Spokane, Couer d’Alene, and from across Montana compete against the best wrestlers for a spot at the top of the podium. This year there were 31 teams in the tournament. Bozeman High was the overall winner. Hamilton and Corvallis competed in the event. Hamilton finished 20th and Corvallis finished 23rd.
Michael Golden of Hamilton finished second at 126 pounds. Leif Schroeder of Bozeman defeated him in a tough match by a pin at 5:31. Corvallis’ Tristan Davis lost to. Bogatyreo of Mead High School in Spokane in the fifth place match at 132 pounds.
Florence went to the Choteau Classic and finished fifth in a tournament that features the smaller schools. Spencer Jones brought home the championship at182 pounds. He took a major decision, 14-1, over Epperson of Malta. Avery Meinzer took third at 138 pounds with a decision over Adams of Mission/Charlo. Kyler Alm pinned Ostwald of Thompson Falls to take third. Dax Miller lost toLopez of Malta in the third place match at 170.
