I am truly amazed by the community support and excitement for the removal of the old mustang from the West Fork. It was remarkable to see our community come together around this effort and make it happen. Thank you!
The Bitter Root Water Forum has hosted the annual River Clean Up for six years, getting huge numbers of volunteers picking up trash from the river we all rely on by. In August this community effort brought in loads of trash, from love seats to lawnmowers, weighing in at 2,360 pounds total. It was incredible to add to that already impressive number this car – bringing the total trash removed from the river this year to over 4,000 pounds!
I could not be more grateful to everyone who made this project possible – generous donors, the Rapp Family Foundation, AV8-Orr Helicopter Services, and Water Forum board member, Don McGourty who spearheaded the effort.
To keep the Clean Up going all year, the Water Forum will work with local shops to giveaway mesh bags for stashing your trash anytime you’re recreating in or near the river. Keep an eye out for this new addition to the Clean Up effort this spring.
Thanks again to everyone who made this such a success story!
Cheers to clean water for all,
Katie Vennie
