The Corvallis boys’ cross country team brought home another state championship Saturday. The team scored only 109 points compared to second place Frenchtown who had 133 points. Hamilton finished in eighth place with 215 points.
The Corvallis boys had three in the top 25 finishers and Hamilton had two. Levi Taylor of Laurel won the race with a time of 16:29. Hamilton’s Matt Wilson came in second with a time of 16:34. Anders Watt of Corvallis was in third with 16:40. Other Corvallis finishers were Jake Jessop with 17:19 in 13th and Grant Martin in 17th with 17:35. Hamilton’s Rigby Poulsen finished in 23rd place with a time of 17:47.
The Corvallis girls finished second behind Hardin. Hardin scored 68 points and Corvallis had 101 points. Hamilton was seventh with 232 points.
Hamilton’s Lyric Devries finished second behind Polson’s Beatrix Frissell who had a time 19:15. Devries’ time was 19:39. Her teammate, Brynnli Poulsen was sixth with a time of 20:05.
Corvallis’ Kailee McCready was 11th with a time of 20:30. Teammate Lilli Day came in 13th with 20:36. Kara Wissenbach finished 23rd with a time of 21:13 and fellow Blue Devil was right behind her with a time of 21:20.
The Darby boys finished in eighth place with a score of 126. Manhattan Christian won the championship with nine points. (The smaller the score, the better in cross country.) Isiah Runs Above from Hays-Lodgepole took the championship with a time of 17:23.58. Donavan Chaffin finished in 20th with a time of 19:00.19.
Although the Darby girls finished in the middle of the team scoring, Gracie Lang finished second behind Averi Parker of West Yellowstone. Parker’s time was 20:02.17. Lang’s time was 20:30.51.
