On Thursday, August 24 at 8 p.m., Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton announced that the evacuated area from Tie Chute Lane north to West County Line Road has been moved back into an Evacuation Warning status, and residents in that area only can move back into their homes.
Sheriff Holton warned residents that a significant amount of active fire with intense heat remains west of Florence. If the fire establishes itself in the One Horse Creek drainage, another Evacuation Order might be necessary. Sheriff Holton said residents of all Evacuation Warning areas should remain vigilant and prepared to evacuate with short notice.
Sheriff Holton credited the planning and operations of Greg Poncin’s Type 1 Northern Rockies Incident Management Team for the ability to safely allow the re-population of the approximately 138 homes north of Tie Chute Lane. Property owners on the north side of Tie Chute Lane can obtain Resident Permits at the Information tent at Florence Farmers State Bank, in order to access their homes through the National Guard Road Block located at Tie Chute Lane and Florence Carlton Loop.
Residents on the south side of Tie Chute Lane and west of Florence Carlton Loop to One Horse Creek Road still remain in an evacuation order area, as well as residents west of Hwy 93 from One Horse Creek Road south to Sweeney Creek Loop, to include Outback Road.
Evacuation areas are being evaluated several times a day with operations and Unified Command to allow residents home as soon as it is safe.
