Ravalli County Sheriff Steve Holton has sent out the following message.
The Ravalli County Sheriff’s Office wishes to thank all Florence citizens for their patience in this long evacuation period. We are assessing the evacuation status daily, and will let citizens home as soon as it is safe.
With the projected weather event over the next couple of days which includes high temperatures, gusty winds, and potential for lightening there are no changes to the evacuation orders in Ravalli County as of noon today.
Because of the expectation of increased fire activity and danger today, there will be no escorts past roadblocks after 2 p.m. We will evaluate the danger tomorrow morning with the goal of providing limited escorted traffic if it is safe to do so.
Again, thank you for your patience and support during this time. Also thank you to the firefighters and incident managers who are working so hard to get people back into their homes.
