The Corvallis Blue Devils won both the girls’ and boys’ team scoring at the Polson ABC Invitational on Saturday with seven other teams competing. Calla Haldorson set a new state best mark in the discus with a throw of 148-08 to outdistance teammate Brookelyn Palin who also had a top mark, 139-3. Haldorson’s throw knocked Lorna Griffen off the Wall of Fame in the Corvallis foyer. Griffin, who graduated from Corvallis in 1974, went on to qualify for the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984.
Corvallis’ Heidi Nisly won the 1,600 with a time of 5:23.66. The 400 relay team of Maureen Jessop, Kylie Pease, Emma Warnken and Penny Jessop edged out Whitefish for the win. In the 1,600 relay, Nisly, Penny Jessop, Bree Lewis and WArnken teamed up for the win with a time of 4:13.89, 10 seconds faster than second place. Ceara Chavez won the triple jump with an effort of 33-00.5.
Hamilton’s Reilly Rostad won the 200 with a time of 26.89. She also won the long jump with 17-01.5. Lyric Devries found her stride and won the 800 with a time of 2:24.58. Hennesy Meyer took first in the pole vault with a vault of 9-6.
Stevensville’s Megan Pendergast won the 100 hurdles with 16.66 and the 300 hurdles with 47.31.
The Corvallis boys won the team scoring with 252.5 points. Columbia Falls was second with 179.5 points. They were followed by Polson, Whitefish, Hamilton, Frenchtown, Stevernsville, and Browning.
Jake Jessop won the 800 with a time of 2:01.87. Andrew Jessop won the 3,200 with a time of 9:57.69. Ridge Albright cleared the bar at 6-3 to take first in the high jump. Braxton Roth won the triple jump with 42-00. Zach Jessop won the javelin with 169-09. The 1,600 relay team of Jakob Dalby, Bruce Thomas, Albright, and Jake Jessop won that race with a time of 3:35.72, five seconds faster than Frenchtown.
Hamilton’s Jaylen Taggart won the discus with a throw of 160-00.
