Sarcasm: All holidays should be cancelled due to political correctness.
Nowadays corporations are being forced to rethink their holiday strategy due to political correctness. Some companies have chosen “volunteer holidays” where you can take x number of holidays whenever you want to, depending on your religion, race, cultural background, gender, ideology, height, weight, or state-of-mind. I think this situation could be solved by eliminating holidays altogether due to the following biases:
New Year’s on January 1. Ahem… about 20% of the world’s population are Chinese and they usually celebrate New Year’s in February. So cancel that holiday in America.
St. Patrick’s Day. Why? St. Patrick was a patron saint of Ireland, not America!
Good Friday. Celebrates the crucifixion of Jesus… only about 1/3 of the world’s population are Christians, leaving the rest to celebrate a holiday they don’t believe in. Nix Good Friday.
Easter. Jesus’ resurrection… see “Good Friday.”
Cinco de Mayo. Really? This is a Mexican holiday that celebrates a minor battle with France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Why do Americans celebrate it?
4th of July. Very offensive to British citizens who reside in America. We should be ashamed to celebrate it!
Labor Day. People who choose to live on welfare (NOT those that really can’t work) are offended by Labor Day because it makes them feel guilty. Cancel it.
Octoberfest. Uh, this is a German holiday and actually starts in September. Geeeesss
Thanksgiving. Yeah, both Pilgrims and Indians got together around harvest time to give thanks. This was before other Europeans decimated a whole bunch of Indians.
Christmas – OMG! Astronomers say Jesus was born some other time of year, or even in another year entirely. This holiday … gone.
Now that I have eliminated all American holidays, you can stay at work, or stay home watching reruns on TV and know that you no longer have a fun few days to celebrate with millions of other Americans who have been enjoying these fake holidays for centuries.
Down with Political Correctness!
