I was devastated to find the recycling center at Burnt Fork Market closed down by the Stevensville Town Council.
How much more garbage is going to the landfill?
How many more trees have to be harvested to make cardboard, newspaper and other paper products when those items can be recycled?
Did the council consider a donation box, which I would gladly have contributed to?
We need more recycling in the valley, not less.
We know the value of recycling aluminum and steel cans.
How much was it really costing the town to provide this valuable service?
If there was too much cardboard being dropped off, couldn’t a new arrangement have been made, as for instance, a separate dumpster for businesses for a small monthly charge?
How about some creative thinking and open discussion on the subject?
Let’s try a forward leap soon.
