A recent letter stated concern that Trump is seen, “rising up for the ashes of Nazism.” Where are the brown shirted, jack-booted, goose stepping, business and car burning Trump followers? Do you really expect a black uniformed thug with a skull and crossbones on his collar to haul you out of bed in the middle of the night?
On the other hand we see rioting anarchists attacking the police that are trying to keep order. They burn cars, destroy businesses and claim free speech gives them the right to do. So, tell me, who are the fascists? All they need are the brown shirts and jack boots!
President Trump has no control over the white supremacists or KKK who “heil Trump” anymore than he has control over those who carry signs, ‘Not my President.”
From day one President Trump said he would pick the best brains in the country to solve our problems. As near as I can tell there are no Bernie Madoffs among his choices. They are extremely successful people who know how to get things done and their wealth is a pretty good indication of their ability to do so.
Donald Trump was elected by those of us who do not want any more jobs to leave the country. Those who want an education system that will once again put us at the top of the ladder. A renewal of pride and patriotism instead of a constant criticism of racism. Imagine a black president accusing the nation that elected him of racism. Unbelievable!
It simply amazes me that a former Montana Secretary of State and President of the Montana Senate would advocate getting rid of the electoral college. The electoral system is the only chance for those of us in Middle America and the flyover zone to be heard. We are so vastly outnumbered by the heavily populated east and west coasts that the electoral college is our only hope, as witnessed this past election. A look at a map of the red and blue states tells the tale. A tiny area of the east coast that could fit in the borders of Montana can cast millions of votes while we barely have a million people. Do you really think people in the boroughs of New York City care about Montana coal miners or loggers or our gun rights?
Republicans and Democrats both have equal interest in gaining power. Dirty politics, unfortunately, is common but the Democrats have the upper hand. Going far back they put a ad on TV showing a golden haired young girl in a field of daisies playing with her doll. A massive explosion with the caption, “You’re gong to vote for Goldwater?” Another, of a sneaky man pushing a little old lady in a wheelchair off a cliff. Claims that Republicans want the elderly to eat cat food and children starving in the streets.
Trump is not a politician. I said it in a former letter, he is an independent, smart enough to know that third parties lose elections.
If you want elections that are fair to our entire population you must kept the electoral college and demand proof of citizenship to vote.
