I am grateful to Joyce McConaha for responding last week in this space to my trying to understand why some people were terrified when Obama became President and how they feel about it now.
I read that she was angry with him from the beginning because he disparaged this great and generous country; she mistrusted his political and religious roots; she thought he squandered an opportunity to really bring Americans together; and she blames that failure for the current resistance to the present administration.
And I can identify with most of those feelings but toward a very different person. The anger is real, and the feeling of hopelessness that what this country really stands for is disappearing daily before our eyes.
I suppose only time will tell and all we can really do is try to understand each other. Thank you, Joyce.
