Senate Majority Leader Fred Thomas, R-Stevensville, and House Majority Leader Ron Ehli, R-Hamilton, were sworn in last week to lead their caucuses at Montana’s Capitol and discussed a unified plan for the 2017 Legislature.
“We have a big advantage this session; a unified vision and plan. I am excited to go to work with my colleague Majority Leader Ehli in the House to balance the budget without tax increases and reduce regulations to allow Montanans to do what they do best, innovate, build and thrive” Thomas said. “We have some hard work in front of us and I’m ready to continue to build a better Montana.”
“We’re hitting the ground running this week in Helena, and I’m glad to have a partner in Majority Leader Thomas in the Senate as we work together to bring forward a strong, unified republican voice,” Ehli stated. “ We’re already busy digging into the Governor’s budget cuts and setting our priorities to ensure great opportunities for all Montanans.”
Thomas will lead a Senate majority of 32 to 18 in the Senate, and will serve as Chair of the Senate Rules Committee and as a member of the Senate Committee on Taxation.
Ehli will lead a House majority of 59 to 41, and will serve as Chair of the Children, Families, Health and Human Services Committee.
