At its December 15 meeting, the Stevensville Town Council approved the appointment of Brandon Dewey to serve as Interim Finance Officer until a new finance officer can be appointed. Dewey will be compensated for the interim position at the former Finance Officer’s probationary wage of $21 per hour until an official replacement can be selected. Five people, including Dewey, have applied to fill the vacancy.
Paulette Floyd was appointed as Ward 2 council person to replace the position left vacant by former Councilman Clay Freeman who moved out of town.
The council also approved contracting with Kalispell CPA Jessica Connolly to close out the books for the 2015-2016 fiscal year and prepare the town’s annual financial report to the state. The contract is for $65 per hour up to $2,000, although Mayor Jim Crews stated that the cost may end up as high as $5,000, but if it went over $2,000 he would return to the Council for an amendment to the contract. According to Mayor Crews, the Town’s 2014-2015 financial report has not been completed due to missing information.
