Miles Community College head baseball coach Jeff Brabant has announced the signing of Jonathan Isaiah Ringer for the 2016-2017 season. Ringer is a 6’ 0”, 190 pounds, left handed pitcher. He graduated this year from Hamilton High School and is the son of John and Dawn Ringer of Darby.
He joins the Pioneers after a high school career with both Hamilton High School and the Bitterroot Red Sox. Throughout his career he earned six total varsity letters, including three in football, two in baseball and one in basketball. In 2015, Jonathan was named to the Montana Class A All State Football team as a middle linebacker.
Apart from a great career on the gridiron, Ringer excelled on the diamond. While playing for the Red Sox in 2015, Ringer was a pivotal part of their state championship run. He garnered accolades during both the regular season and the post season. During the Belgrade Boys of Summer tournament, Ringer was named to the all-tournament team, named MVP of the tournament, and also led his team to a championship outlasting a competitive Spokane team. He continued his success well into the post season earning the batting title at the American Legion Single A State Tournament.
Aside from his individual success, Ringer was a corner piece for the very successful Bitterroot American Legion Red Sox team last summer. They won the triple crown of American Legion tournament baseball, winning the Western District Tournament, the Montana State Tournament, and capping an unbelievable 78-7 season with a Northwest Regional Title. He is currently playing with the Red Sox this summer and is well on the way of capturing back-to-back state titles. Bitterroot won the Western District this last weekend and Ringer will look to lead them to another state title this weekend in Great Falls.
As successful as Ringer has been on the field, he has excelled in the classroom and in extracurricular activities. He was a member of the Key Club at Hamilton High School, and was also a regular on the HHS Honor Rol all four years of high school. He was also named to the Academic All-State team in 2015. Ringer is undecided on a major coming into MCC, but will look to earn an Associates Degree during his time in Miles City.
