Garden Club
Stevensville Garden Club will meet Wednesday, June 1 (first Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Community Baptist Church, 409 Buck Street, Stevensville. The Homestead Organic Farms tour has been cancelled, so meet at the church as usual. Project: club members need to bring straw hats to decorate for the convention in June. Also, annual membership dues are to be paid at the June meeting. Everyone welcome.
Stevi school board special meeting
The Stevensville School Board of Trustees will hold a special board meeting on Wednesday, June 1 at 7 p.m. in the Stevensville Music Center Choir Room.

GYST Workshop for Women
GYST Workshop for Women – a starting place to “Get Your Stuff Together” – will take place Thursday, June 2 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Bitterroot College. Gain knowledge, motivation and tools about the important things in life that matter when “life happens.” Workshop will cover wills, advanced care directives, power of attorney, TOD, POD, beneficiaries and insurance. Lions Club Golf Tournament
Help residents in Ravalli County with sight and hearing needs by joining the Hamilton Lions and your friends at the annual Lions Golf Tournament on Friday, June 3 at the Hamilton Golf Course. Check-in is at 12 noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Cost is $325 for a 5 person team, or $75 a person, with dinner included. There will be cash prizes for the top three teams and all others will be entered in a jackpot drawing, plus special hold in one prizes will be offered. Tournament sponsorships are available. Take part in a great Friday afternoon tournament, help with sight and hearing assistance for residents in Ravalli County and then enjoy the rest of the weekend! North Valley Pachyderm Club
The North Valley Pachyderm Club will meet Friday, June 3 at 12 noon at The Frontier Café, Hwy 93 in Stevensville. Guest speaker will be State Senator Fred Thomas. The North Valley Pachyderm Club is an educational arm of the Republican Party. All are welcome.
Artist studio tour
The 8th Annual Artists Along the Bitterroot Studio Tour and Sale will take place Friday through Sunday, June 3-5 from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Maps are available at many local establishments or on the web at www.artistsalongthebitterroot.com.
K of C Fish Fry
The Knights of Columbus Council 6130, Hamilton will hold their final First Friday Fish Fry of the season on June 3 from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Francis’ Pastoral Center located at 411 S. 5th St. Hamilton. The all-you-can-eat meal consists of fish, fries, coleslaw, and mac ‘n cheese, vegetables, dessert and soft beverage. Cost is $10 per person, children under nine eat free so bring the kids! As a special offer a family of 4 or more (2adults and children) can eat for $35. Wine can be purchased separately. First Friday at library
Find your rhythm at the North Valley Public Library! Unity Dance and Drum will be performing and teaching during the First Friday event, June 3 at 6 p.m. in the Community Room. This performance will include an African drum and dance lesson at the end. Unity Dance and Drum supports three major activities: education, which includes teaching dance classes and going to local schools to teach culture, music, and dance; sponsoring workshops in Montana by African teachers; and performances, which use traditional dances, costumes, and music as the backbone, and range from simple dance pieces to elaborate “ballet-style” performances that consist of setting a story or traditional African proverbs to music, song, and dance. Star-Gazing
Explore planets, nebulae, star clusters and distant galaxies during seven upcoming free observing nights at the University of Montana’s Blue Mountain Observatory. Public observing nights this summer are scheduled for the following Fridays: June 3, July 1 and 29, August 5 and 26, and September 2 and 23. The events are family-friendly and children are welcome. Attendees are asked to reserve a free ticket for each person in their group via Eventbrite at http://bit.ly/1R9dd0m.
The observatory, located atop Blue Mountain at an elevation of 6,300 feet, is operated by UM. Astronomers will be on hand at all events to discuss what’s being viewed through the telescopes, point out constellations, show attendees how to find interesting celestial objects with the naked eye or a pair of binoculars and discuss recent astronomical discoveries.
Observing begins about an hour after sunset, and organizers recommend bringing warm clothes for cool evenings and a flashlight for the short walk to the observatory. To ensure the open house nights remain safe and pleasurable for all, smoking and alcohol are prohibited.

Grazing lease workshop

The Bitterroot Emergency Amateur Radios Service meets Monday, June 6 at 7 p.m. at BJ’s Restaurant in Hamilton. Members generally arrive at 6 p.m. for dinner. Fly Fishers
Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot will meet Tuesday, June 7 at BJ’s Restaurant, 900 N 1st in Hamilton. The social hour is 6 to 7 p.m. with cocktails/dinner optional. Dave Hughes, prolific author and fisherman, will give a presentation on “Reading Trout Water.” Dave is the author of more than 20 books about fly fishing for trout. He is an accomplished amateur aquatic entomologist. His hobbies include collecting, identifying and photographing the aquatic insects that are fed upon by trout, as well as tying the flies that match those insects to fool those trout! His articles on fly fishing have appeared in numerous sporting and fly fishing magazines. Dave lives in Oregon with his wife, Japanese fly fishing writer Masako Tani. Zen Buddhism Class will be held on Wednesday, June 8 (2nd and 4th Wednesdays) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Center for Spiritual Living, 1720 N.
