B, C schools compete in district track meets

The track and field season, along with the regular school year, is winding down. Darby and Victor competed at the District 13C meet, and Florence was at the District 6B meet. Both meets were held at Big Sky High School in Missoula. The divisional meets will also be held at Big Sky this weekend. The top six finishers in each event for both 13C and 6B will compete.
Although the Victor boys led after the first day of competition at the District 13C meet, they couldn’t stop Drummond and finished third behind Drummond and Seeley-Swan. Colt Neville was a double winner for the Pirates. The junior took first in the shot put with a throw of 40’2”. He also won the discus with a throw of 120’2”, outdistancing Darby’s John Beckers by a little over a foot. Neville was third in the 300 hurdles. There will be a few more Pirates who will be competing at divisional. Jack Powell finished second in both the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. He was sixth in the long jump. Jesse Pearson was fourth in the 100 meter dash, fourth in the pole vault with 8’6”, fourth in the long jump and second in the triple jump with a leap of 37’2 ¼”. Eli Rosen was second in the long jump, third in the triple jump and sixth in the 800. Mason Agee was fourth in the high jump, fifth in the pole vault and fifth in the triple jump. Logan McKinley finished third in the javelin with 138’1”, and he was fourth in the shot put. Victor won the 400 relay.
Darby had two athletes who won two events each. The Tigers finished fourth in the team standings. In the distance races, Evan Duggan took first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:51.42. He was also first in the 3,200 with a time of 10:42.51. Ky McCollaum won the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.43 and the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.81. He was sixth in the 400 as well. John Beckers, in addition to placing second in the discus, took second in the javelin also. Dylan Parks finished fourth in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Tilore Spears was fifth in the 1,600 and the 3,200 races. Donovan Chaffin was third in the 3,200 and sixth in the 1,600. Jordan Usher was sixth in the 3,200. The Darby relay teams took third in the 400 relay and third in the 1600 relay.
In the girls team scoring, Seeley-Swan took top honors. Darby finished third and Victor fifth.
Kylie Fisher of Darby won the discus with a throw of 96’8”. She was second in the javelin with a throw of 102’5”. Fisher took third in the shot put. Lily Lang was second in the 3,200 and the 1,600-meter races. She finished third in the 800. Casey Ehmann was second in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. She finished fifth in the 400 and sixth in the 200. Melanie Hauk finished third in both the 1,600 and the 3,200 races. The Darby 1,600 relay team finished third.
Victor’s Jamie Burdett was third in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the long jump. Sophie Pearson was fourth in the 800, fourth in the 300 hurdles and third in the triple jump. Ali Elliot finished fourth in the javelin and sixth in the discus.
The Florence girls finished in fourth place behind Deer Lodge, Loyola and Ronan. They were led by Autumn Round’s two first place finishes. She won the 400 with a time of 1:02.36. She also won the triple jump with an effort of 34’2”. She was sixth in the long jump. Alexis Taulbee was second in the 100 hurdles and third in the 300 hurdles. Ally Rust was sixth in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the 300 hurdles. Jada Hunsucker finished fourth in the javelin. The 400-relay team for Florence finished third and the 1,600-relay team finished second.
The Florence boys finished in third place behind Ronan and Deer Lodge. Marcus Zeiler paced the Falcons with three first place finishes. He won the 800 in 2:08.81. He took first in the 1,600 with a time of 4:50.24 and he finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 40’10”. He was also fourth in the 400. Connor Thorne won the high jump with a leap of six feet. Dean Klakken won the 400 with a time of 52.65. He was fourth in the 100-meter race. Caden Venters took first in the javelin with a throw of 156’3”. Jethro Thorne was second in the 400. Harvey Blake was fifth in the 800. Justin Jones was fourth in the 3,200. Bridger Dragoo was second in the discus and fourth in the shot put. Dawson Thrasher was fourth in the discus. The Falcon 400 relay took third and the 1,600 relay team finished second.
