The Corvallis Blue Devils gave the unbeaten Florence Falcons a run for their money on Saturday night. Although the Blue Devils never led in the game, they pushed the Falcons at almost every turn, playing scrappy defense and creating turnovers. Florence won, 70-63. Dan Mickelson had 17 points from under the basket for the Falcons and Marcus Zeiler also dropped in 17 points. Chase Jessop scored 26 points for the Blue Devils and Tylor Nixon added 16.

Florence rolled over St. Ignatius on Thursday with a 65-23 win over the Bulldogs. Jake Christopherson led all scorers with 17 points. Levi Clagett added 14 and Brent Stroppel dropped in 10 more. The Falcons are now 7-0 in conference play and 14-0 overall.

Corvallis fell to Anaconda in non-conference action, 56-39. Corvallis had a slow first half. The Blue Devils had a tough time containing Braxton Hill who scored 20 points for the Copperheads. Jessop finished with 26 points.

The Hamilton Broncs split their games, defeating Butte Central in Southwest A action and losing to non-conference foe Big Sky. The Broncs came out strong against Butte Central and built a lead that the Maroons couldn’t take over. They went on to win, 57-40. Carter Kearns had 12 points and Ky Burch added 10 more. Hamilton improved to 3-2 in conference play.

Hamilton was host to the Class AA Big Sky Eagles. Hamilton trailed by only two at the end of the first quarter. Big Sky pulled ahead by the half but Hamilton kept coming right back. Freshman Hunter Omlid made some slick moves under the basket and had the ball dropping his way. He finished with 16 points. Kearns had 13 and Burch 11.

Stevensville split their games, losing to Polson and then rebounding and topping Thompson Falls. The Yellowjackets could not find their momentum against Polson and fell, 76-32. Bryce Torrey had 11 points for Stevi.

Although outsized, the Yellowjackets held on for a 58-54, non-conference win over Thompson Falls on Friday. The third quarter was the difference as Stevensville pushed ahead five points and then held on for the win. James Fry came back for Stevensville and played a limited amount of time. Jarod Kingsbury scored 17 for the ‘Jackets.

Victor split their games, taking a conference win over Lincoln but then dropping a non-conference game to Hot Springs. The Pirates held off a surging Lynx team in the final frame to defeat Lincoln, 50-45. Colt Neville had 18 points and Logan McKinley added nine more.

A 17 point third quarter was not enough for the Pirates against Hot Springs who held on to win, 51-46, over Victor. Hot Springs took an early lead and kept the Pirates at bay. Neville had 21 points for Victor.

Darby lost to Philipsburg, 48-43, in a close 13C match. Only one point separated the teams at the end of the first quarter. Philipsburg was able to hold Darby’s leading scorer Zach McCrossin to only five points in the game. Zack Kline and John Beckers stepped up with 14 and 10 points respectively.
