America needs and deserves Presidential honesty, integrity, maturity, competence, transformative leadership, and efficient and effective management! In short, governance that serves the common good, not the left or the right, but everyone.
As a moderate Republican, I am appalled about the sad state of the Republican Presidential Primary Race. The front runners have a collective record of false and misleading claims. Examination of the front runners’ statements shows clear violations of important founding principles of America: Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Religion, Freedom of the Press, and Separation of Church & State. Both are demagogues, appealing to voter emotions and fears for political gain.
Donald Trump is savvy, but unprincipled in demeanor, word and deed. His demeanor is self-serving and narcissistic, arrogant, bullying, hypocritical, vulgar and the truth is not in him. In his own words from his book, The Art of the Deal: “People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular. I call it truthful hyperbole. It’s an innocent form of exaggeration — and a very effective form of promotion.”
Taking a phrase from Henry Kissinger, he is a legend in his own mind.
Ted Cruz is savvy, cunning, smooth, hypocritical, and is, also, untruthful. It’s hard to imagine he could work with the Senate where he is widely disliked.
I hope every thoughtful American voter refuses to allow nonsense in the Oval Office, we need a President who is respected at home and abroad.
