Mary Catherine Lyon

Stevensville – Mary was born November 30, 1943 in Denver to James and Bernadine Durfee. She died December 30, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Hospital from pancreatic cancer.
Mary spent her early years in Denver. She married Allen Stevens in 1964. They had a son Mark Allen and were later divorced. In 1972 she married Bill Lyon in Missoula. Working for the government they moved several times. Mary worked her way up from clerk/typist to a computer programmer/system manager. She was a seamstress, pianist, knitter and the best wife and mother one ever had. She loved music and sang in the Sweet Adelines for several years. She also sang with the United Methodist choir. She loved figures and was treasurer for several organizations. She had numerous health issues over the years and never complained once. When asked how she felt the answer was always the same: “I’m fine.”
She was preceded in death by her parents and a stepdaughter Kathy.
She is survived by her husband Bill, and son Mark, brother Robert and stepchildren Kristine, Karla (Jim) and Eric (Val), seven grandchildren, one great grandson, a sister in-law Shirley and several nieces and nephews.
No funeral service is planned. A memorial service will be held in the Spring.
Rest in peace, dear, sweet, wonderful woman. You will always be loved beyond belief.
