Let us see if we can understand why Van P. Keele chose to verbally chastise two of Montana’s Congressmen for not voting to increase our national debt limit as stated in his 4 November 2015 Bitterroot Star letter to the editor. For some reason, I always thought that it wise to correct a problem, not just the problem symptoms. The problem symptoms are that our national debt needs to be increased every time we run out of money in the “bank.” Perennially continuing to not realistically control our spending and, therefore, not control the national debt is the real problem. Van P. just wants to correct the problem symptoms. Our Congressmen merely wanted us to focus on the real problem- which can only be corrected when spending is controlled within reasonable limits. Don’t you think Keele should have placed the blame on the unbridled spenders?
Keele totally missed that point, as demonstrated by his lengthy rant. Our conservative Congressmen were sending a message to fiscally astute voters that America has to return to fiscal sanity! We can and we will return to fiscal sanity- if we elect a disciplined, fiscally responsible president, and/or a veto proof Congress with responsible, but reasonable conservative spending habits! That either leaves Hillary, and/or many liberals in Congress, out – both are preferable. For some irrational reason, Keele, other progressive liberals, and many Obama loving lock step Democrats apparently think that America can spend its way to prosperity! It is way past time for us to awaken those irrational thinkers from that unrealistic Alice in Wonderland dream world in which they live!
The reality is that continuing our government’s spending habits and debt limit increases, at the current rates, will bankrupt our government and ruin our economy sooner or later! It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the only remaining question is when that will happen. Four more years of Obama style, questionable leadership would likely hasten America’s economic demise! Obama’s eco-friendly leadership is heading us directly into an “eco-nomic” disaster!
Many liberals in Congress, including both Democrats and Republicans, do not vote for what is right for their constituency or America, but instead, they vote for whatever is necessary to get them re-elected by seemingly un-thinking voters. Daines and Zinke voted to demonstrate their disdain for America’s unbridled spending habits! Was that appropriate? Yes, I commend them for that action! Fiscally conservative Montanans and Americans likely do, and should, respect Daines and Zinke for their honesty in voting their conscience. Their vote demonstrated exactly what their constituency expected of them in Washington – regardless of whether Keele understood/liked it or not!
In order for America to survive the liberal progressive spending onslaught, Americans must vote their conscience in 2016. That means voting against liberals with unbridled spending habits or promises!
I thank Scott Boyer for his recently expressed support! I hope he resumes his critiques of un-realistic liberals.
