A letter last week inquired whether Col. Allen B. West’s speaking at the Hamilton Fair Grounds dinner on October 17th would constitute a new low in guest speakers.
Emphatically not! On the contrary, it might well end up spawning a new high in beneficial events.
Col. West, while retired from the army for an incident where he ended up forfeiting his military career for taking emergency action to protect his men, is addressed by his battle-earned active rank of colonel as a sign of respect by tens of thousands of Americans; so, actually, your letter writer has a better chance of working on Kentucky Fried Chicken to stop addressing their founder, Harland D. Sanders, as Colonel Sanders.
After seeing the way Donald Trump has shaken up politically correct Washington politicians by truth-talking about nation-endangering immigration and forcing them to address such critical issues despite their fears of it hurting their re-election chances, I’m for making Col. West’s appearance as only the first of a series of such straight-talking events in off-election years in the future.
Readers probably can’t buy a ticket to the coming local event with Col. West because it appears sold out. But, I offer a friendly challenge to your letter writer to let your readers listen to some of Col. West’s terrific talks posted on the internet YouTube and then vote as to whether he brings a new low or a new high to conversations about the future of America. Let your readers decide.
As for me, he’s my choice for the next U.S. Secretary of Defense or State.
Wouldn’t that be a new high?
