From Wednesday, September 16 through Sunday, September 20, hundreds of volunteers are needed to help build Bear Mountain Playground at Lewis and Clark Park in Stevensville.
You can sign up to help the community build this playground. There will be three shifts per day: 8 a.m.-12 noon, 12:30-5:00 p.m., and 5:30 p.m. to close. Meals will be provided free after shifts. Free childcare is available for potty-trained children. Children ages 10 and older can work on site with some restrictions.
“After a year and a half of fundraising, this is the magical time, where we can come together as a community and build this playground made possible through so many
donations,” said Jessica Brunell, Bear Mountain Steering Committee co-chair.
The idea of a community-built project was essential in keeping the cost of the playground down. More importantly, the benefits of a community built playground go well beyond the cost savings. The experience offers a rare opportunity for individuals to collectively give something back to their community, resulting in a beautifully
constructed, unique expression of shared pride.
