I just want to thank all the folks in the Bitterroot Valley (and Missoula) that stepped up to help when I sounded the “call to arms” to help a local veteran and his family in need. With a recent move, and all the financial obligations that go with that, he had concerns about having enough money for food to feed his family in the next couple of months, which includes five small children. He works full time and doesn’t qualify for many of the food assistance programs. Utilizing the best mega phone I know (Facebook), I explained the situation and within hours the food started rolling in! Bags and bags of game meat, boxes and boxes of fresh garden vegetables, and bins and bins of dried goods, as well as donations to purchase food. A shout out to John and the staff at CJ’s Den in Stevensville for letting me use their chest freezer for storage this past week. Each and every person who dropped something off expressed their gratitude and appreciation of this veteran and the sacrifices that he and his family have made on behalf of this country – my country. What an honor to be a part of something so special. Thank you one and all.
