The Hamilton Broncs boys’ team will have a chance to defend their state title in golf this weekend in Sidney. The boys’ team finished second behind Whitefish by one stroke at the Western A Divisional last weekend in Fairmont. Tyge Yelenich of Butte Central won a shoot out over Hamilton’s Josh Heath to take the top honor in the individual scoring. Both shot an 80, but Yelenich won the playoff hole. Max Toenjes of Hamilton shot an 81 to finish third. Also qualifying for state for Hamilton are Blaine Wetzsteon who shot an 89, and Ky Burch with a 97,
Stevensville will have two golfers moving on to state. Zel Frost finished 12th with a 92. Jayce Painter also shot a 92 and will be moving on as well.
The Hamilton girls golf team also qualified for state. They finished fourth behind Whitefish (372), Frenchtown (429), and Dillon (466) with a 482 cumulative score. Sydni Rose was the highest qualifying Hamilton girls’ player. She shot a 95 and finished fifth. Melissa Kimp shot a 104 and was seventh. Liz Roberts finished with a 125 and Haile Spear had a 158 to qualify.
