The Bitter Root Water Forum (BRWF) was pleased to read Chuck Stranahan’s “Reflections on the River” in last week’s Bitterroot Star. As a nonprofit dedicated to ensuring clean water for this and future generations, BRWF is well aware of how important the Bitterroot River is to our livelihoods and to the economy in the Bitterroot Valley. As a provider of irrigation water, a social connector, and a recreational hub, the Bitterroot River is undoubtedly one of the greatest assets we have in the Valley.
If you agree, you can get involved and do your part to protect and enhance our mighty Bitterroot. This Saturday, August 8th, BRWF is hosting the annual Bitterroot River Clean Up. We are looking for volunteers from Sula to Missoula to lend a hand by walking or floating a stretch of river and collecting trash. Each year, we remove over 1,000 pounds of trash from the river. Everyone who helps will get a free lunch at Riverfest Days at River Park on Saturday August 8th. For more information or to sign up, visit www.brwaterforum.org or call us at 375-2272. If you can’t make it Saturday, check out our website for other ways to get involved or to join our email list.
We are grateful for the people who appreciate the resources like we do and volunteer to protect it. We’re thankful for the businesses and organizations like Kinetico, Farmers State Bank, Trout Unlimited, Ravalli County Fish and Wildlife Association, and Fly Fishers of the Bitterroot who invest in the River Clean Up. We appreciate the efforts of people like Chuck who continually remind the community that we need to make the care of our river a top priority.
