Letter to Valerie Stamey, with compassion

May 13, 2015 by Guest Post

It might have appeared as a win-win-win option. Powers that be assured you that both jobs could be accomplished. Manage the Office of Treasurer of Ravali County, also follow the obvious trail along possible criminal wrongdoings by the Democrat Treasurer. You maybe scratched your head and said such as: “But I don’t even know the software.” But got assurances that the caucus system would work with you for the joint project.
And you worked with them. Got elected by the Commissioners. Got appointed by the County Commissioners. You suggested personnel changes. You got software experience. You reported of stuff like ‘files missing’ from previous Treasurer. Came up with evidence, wrongful, perhaps fraudulent favoritism to an out of town entity.
The win-win-win was working. Your passion for organization, for fiscal accountability for Democrats, for employment of your skills were sweet in harmony. For a short while.
Then, remember the weekends you called tax payers apologizing for no receipts for tax payments?
Remember when first an irrigation district said ‘where is our money?’
Remember when libraries and school said ‘where is our money?’
Got so bad over and over again might have been like that keeper hole below the diversion dam, across the Bitterroot River. Once you are in the keeper hole, you get cycled again and again and again. Deep, reverse currents pull you down, then reduce and release you to float up, then float downstream only to get sucked back into more cycles through the keeper hole.
Must have hurt deeply while win-win-win went to lose-lose-lose.
Must still hurt that a million tax payer dollars were wrongfully cared for and accounted for. Must have hurt that the trail you had navigated into disclosing past transactions with that out of town entity came to an end.
Perhaps hurt even more when wondering how that mess will look on your record?
Maybe, about then would have been a good time to go to Billings to the Prison for Women. And tune up skill sets, and strengthen your functional attributes. While helping you unattach from your dysfunctional attributes.
But that never happened.
The Old West model prevailed. You had to leave town. No new legal charges against you, but you were shamed and had to leave the Bitterroot. Maybe to live a life on the run!
From what I know, I have compassion for how elements of society took advantage of you, then abandoned you.
In my humbled opinion, what happened resembles society rewarding some of your habits that are neither personally nor socially sustainable. In a sense, you were conned into conning the public.
And what’s still happening? Smelly stains from the Stamey selection participants and supporters must be washed away.
You would know far better than I, does ‘politics’ say that you are beyond local law and must exit the Bitterroot and be forever on the run?
Please consider advantages/disadvantages of seeking a forum where the punishment would be less extreme. With better outlooks for you, also the larger community!
Participate in ongoing creation. Redemption and rehabilitation can be a friend to each other.
Lacking any address for you, I’m trying this unusual way to communicate with you.
