I want to thank you sincerely for printing Larry Campbell’s excellent letter in the May 13th issue of the Star. The moral code imbedded in his message is familiar to many of us who believe that humans must change our ways, in this generation, if we care anything at all about leaving a healthy, flourishing environment for future generations.
Caring about and acting to achieve the well being of other living things is something we can all do without making any real sacrifices. We won’t have to go without supper or shiver in the cold or live in poverty. We don’t have to give up our machine toys. All it takes is the wisdom to know the appropriate where and when.
Compassion for all life forms is a good thing to strive for, I think. I find this easy when I visit Wilderness. Interacting non violently with the animals who live there is awesome. There I see the harmony and beauty Adam and Eve might have enjoyed in Eden. There I see the handy work of God unfolding before my eyes, unfolding without my help or intervention, like I imagine it always has.
