Hopefully, many of you have been seeing and hearing the many exciting and positive things happening in the Darby schools. Strong feelings of pride and accomplishment among students, staff, parents and the greater community for our academic and athletic achievements are undeniable. I believe this trend can and will continue with positive and engaged leadership from school trustees.
In February, the Darby school board appointed Rachel Atkins to fill a vacated seat for a remaining un-expired term. Rachel stood out among the other interested candidates for her professionalism, enthusiasm and active volunteerism within the school. Rachel possesses experience in special education, something I believe to be a valuable asset to the board as no other trustee has a background in this field. With a high population of special needs students within our district, we need a strong advocate for those children. While Rachel has only a few months of board experience under her belt she has demonstrated an eagerness to learn, is supportive of the staff and keeps the needs of the students at the forefront of her decisions. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a dynamic individual and am thrilled about the potential as a team moving forward.
Help us continue the great work being done in Darby schools and vote for Rachel Atkins Tuesday, May 5th.
