Thank you for the thorough coverage on town council, county commission and other community matters. It makes a difference and it is appreciated.
The article “Stevensville two-topic special meeting legal” (March 25, 2015) took my breath away! Mr. Clayton Floyd, your written statement to the town clerk about your views and concerns over the special meeting is just plain bullying. I am not a town resident but I am a community member and as such I find such behavior reprehensible. You owe an apology and I surely hope you issue that apology.
You are not an attorney and cannot render a legal opinion. If your interpretation of a law runs counter to a legal opinion I wager the legal opinion will have the day.
I sincerely wish you could find a way to assist the town of Stevensville with positive actions. That would be refreshing and it would go so much further in improving the well being of the community. Bullying surely will not.
Last, Mr. Michalson, your letter also strikes me as bullying. The sewer project is in line with just about every other sewer/water project going on in the state; Stevensville is not special on this matter. You continually write about “the stipend” – it is under review, let the process unfold. I doubt the mayor undertakes a task such as rewriting a Personnel Policy without a clear understanding and, if necessary, a rendered legal opinion of the necessity of such rewriting. This is part of managing a government. Your slam on two council members was just plain nasty. I also sincerely wish you could find a way to assist the town of Stevensville with positive actions.
We all may have different opinions on how any given matter should be handled. We all are members of this community. We all deserve respect. Those serving in a volunteer capacity to any community absolutely deserve our respect, period.
