During the council comment period at the last Stevensville Town Council meeting, Council member Bill Perrin took the opportunity to list some of the Town’s many accomplishments over the last few years.
“I was thinking the other day, trying to take a positive look at things for my own sanity and one thing that struck me is, the Town seems to be running pretty well,” said Perrin. His list of accomplishments included:
• audits are up to date
• annual financial reports are filed on time
• books are in order and budget is within expectations
• cash balances are known, which hadn’t been for a few years running
• meeting technology has dramatically improved
• police department has three employees, which was a long term goal
• progress on water rights and water right transfers
• fire department has a staff of 47 volunteers
• equipment has been upgraded for fire, police and streets
• following repairs and improvements, town building is more energy efficient and more customer friendly
• Town Judge has his own quarters
• Park Board has been re-activated
• airport is on track for upgrades
• Tax Increment Finance District created on north end of town
• Targeted Economic Development District created at airport
• water and sewer projects are going well
“I have to stand back and say, ‘That’s amazing!’ We should collectively feel pretty good about all this,” said Perrin.
