Terry Nelson is Chairman of the Republican Central Committee. He provided a sample ballot at the Republican Women’s Apple Days booth and on the internet. Sample ballot was drafted and distributed without the permission of the Republican Central Committee, or Republican Women. I encourage everyone to note the following names that Terry has recommended for the Study Commission: Scott Boulanger, Dale Lewis, Bill Menager, Terry Nelson, and Chris Taggart. These are people that Terry supports and they will have a chance to improve county government, or not. It is likely that these people will want to continue the expensive, ineffective, 5 county commissioners with which we now are burdened. For some reason, he also endorses one justice candidate, Lawrence Van Dyke. All of the foregoing are nonpartisan races and the Party should not be involved.
Terry is the Party Chair who supported the following:
1. Treasurer Valery Stamey
2. County Commissioner Suzie Foss
3. County Commissioner Ron Stoltz
4. Refusing to give money to two Republican candidates (Pat Connell and Ray Hawk) who would not agree to support EVERY plank in the Party platform.
5. Suing the County and State in federal court to allow only “good” Republicans to vote in our primary and exclude “riff raff”, like the average Montana voter.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am related to candidate Marilee Shockley, and candidate Chris Taggart works for Terry in the planning office.
If you liked Stamey, Foss, and Stoltz, you will love Nelson, Boulanger, Lewis, Taggart, and Menager. Please take this list with you to the voting booth.
